Steven Lee Shelton

EMINGTON - Steven Lee Shelton, 54, of rural Emington, died at 6:29 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 20, 2001) at OSF Saint James Hospital, Pontiac, following a sudden illness.

His funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom, with the Rev. Jack McCormack and the Rev. John Mohler officiating. Burial will be in Broughton Township Cemetery, rural Kempton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Livingston County Humane Society or the Pontiac Public Library.

He was born Dec. 26, 1946, in Bloomington, the son of Edward H. and Margaret Gillenwater Shelton. He married Sheila K. Peterson on July 22, 1970, in Chicago. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents of Bloomington; three daughters, Lalena Heidenreich, Pontiac; Leea Peterson Shelton, Emington; and Lexa Shelton, Bourbonnais; two brothers, Gary (Linda) Shelton, Bloomington; Bradley (Marilyn) Shelton, Baldwinsville, N.Y.; and a sister, Sandra Ellen (Rick) Barth, Morton.

Survivors also include three grandchildren, Zachary, Emily and Natalie Heidenreich.

Mr. Shelton was educated in Bloomington schools and was a 1964 graduate of Bloomington High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam after having been in the Illinois National Guard for two years. He had worked in the press room at R.R. Donnelly & Sons, Dwight for the past 30 years
