Susan Campbell

Susan Elaine Campbell, 50, of 901 S. East St., Bloomington, died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 9, 1997) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Arrowsmith. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the memorial home.

Miss Campbell was born March 14, 1947, in Bloomington, the daughter of William Audley and Fern Elaine Rhorer Campbell.

Surviving is a daughter, Louisa Elaine "Coco" Campbell and a granddaughter, Ashlynne Elaine Campbell, both of Bloomington; a sister, Audli (Dale) Yeakel, Bloomington; a brother, William "Bill" Campbell and family of Lakeland, Fla., and an aunt, Valerie Schilkofski, Jacksonville, Fla. She will be remembered by a host of loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, William Watchinski.

Susan graduated from Bloomington High School in 1965 and attended Illinois State University. She graduated from Florida College of Medical Technology at Miami in 1968 as valedictorian of her class.

She was formerly employed as a medical technologist at Lincoln State School in Lincoln and also at Brokaw Hospital, Normal. Later, she was employed at MARC Center from 1983 to 1994 where she began as a job analyst/trainer. From 1991 to 1994 she was vocational training coordinator.

Susan received MARC Center awards of merit for "Treating Others with Dignity and Respect" and "Demonstrating a Positive Approach." She was a nominee for the MARC Center Hall of Fame and was a 1994 nominee for the McLean County Women of Distinction. She served on the MARC Center public relations committee from 1988 to 1990 and the organizational work team in 1994.

Later, she was employed as an intake specialist for Mid-Central Community Action. Presently Susan was employed as receptionist for the Bloomington Housing Authority.

She was a former member of the McLean County Human Service Council.

Susan was an avid gardener and loved flowers and animals. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She always gave of herself and enabled and encouraged others to be strong. She treated people with love and respect and received the same in return.
