George L. Chesley

A private memorial service for George L. Chesley, 52, of 1202 Martha Drive, Normal, will be held for the family. He was cremated. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.

He died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday (March 25, 1999) at his home. He had been ill.

Memorials may be made to OSF St. Joseph Home Health Care or the Community Cancer Center.

Mr. Chesley was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Rochester, Minn., the son of Dr. George L. and Isobel Longley Chesley. He married Karen Usher on May 9, 1992, in Las Vegas. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Isobel Chesley, Santa Rosa, Calif.; one daughter, Gretchen (Graham Critch) Chesley, Bloomington; one sister, Emily (David Walsh) Chesley, Healdsburg, Calif.; and one brother, Dr. Richard (Isabelle) Chesley, Sonoma, Calif.

Also surviving are two nieces and six nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. George L. Chesley, in 1976.

Mr. Chesley was an attorney at law and had practiced law for over 26 years in the Bloomington-Normal area. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the University of Illinois.

He was a member of McLean County Bar Association and Illinois Bar Association. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan.
