Barry Jacobs

BLOOMINGTON - Barry L. Jacobs, 60, of 2707 Brunswick Drive, Bloomington, died at 7:37 a.m. Thursday (July 26, 2007) at his residence.

His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington, with military rites accorded at the cemetery by the Carl S. Martin Post 635 Honor Guard, Normal. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.

He was born Jan. 3, 1947, at Canton, to Bernard and Noleen Mars Jacobs. He married Patricia "Pat" A. Zeiters on June 20, 1970, at Bloomington. She survives.

Also surviving is his mother, Noleen Jacobs, Normal; one son, Steve (Sherry) Jacobs, Paris, Texas; one daughter, Cheri Croke, Bloomington; two brothers, Neil (Mary) Jacobs, Stanford, and David (Margaret) Jacobs, Thompson, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Amanda, Jennie and Jessie Croke, and Jessica and Chase Kreais. Also surviving is several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

He was in the insurance business with his father and later became sole proprietor of Jacobs Insurance Agency, Bloomington. He was a member of Bloomington-Normal Jaycees of which he was past president. He was a member of the John H. Kraus Bloomington Post 454. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
