Weldon Mulliken

Weldon Mulliken Jr.

The graveside service of Weldon W. Mulliken Jr., 52, of 2002 E. Taylor St., Bloomington, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. The Rev. Philip D. Queen will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by Central Illinois Chapter of Vietnow. There will be no visitation. Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.

He died at 1:20 p.m. Monday (March 1, 1999) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Memorials may be made to Central Illinois Chapter of Vietnow, P.O. Box 696, Bloomington; or American Cancer Society.

Mr. Mulliken was born Dec. 16, 1946, in Normal, the son of Weldon W. Sr. and Bernadine Berenz Mulliken. He married Carole J. Harris on April 5, 1984, in Bloomington. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Bernadine Mulliken, rural Downs; one son, W. Troy Mulliken, Bloomington; one stepdaughter, Marci Hobbs, Farmer City; one stepson, James P. Pflager, Pontiac; one sister, Barre (Larry) Mulliken/Briggs, Carbondale; and two granddaughters.

Also surviving is a nephew, Brandon Briggs.

His father and grandparents preceded him in death.

Mr. Mulliken was an assistant with Veterans Assistance Commission.

He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, and Central Illinois Chapter of Vietnow. He was a graduate of ISU.

Mr. Mulliken was also an H&R Block Tax preparer; served on the "Welcome Home" Parade committee; fund-raising chairman for "Debt of Honor" committee; committee member for Vietnam and Korean Memorial; served as secretary of the Memorial Day Parade and Activities Committee; and held the following positions with Central Illinois Chapter of Vietnow: membership chairman; scholarship chairman; past chapter president; past chapter treasurer; past vice president; and also served on the Christmas Food Basket Committee.

He was also past treasurer of the Illinois Department of Vietnow. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars; Bloomington-Normal Realtors Association; past vice president and director of Bloomington-Normal Jaycees; former member of Bloomington Country Club; and past member of Rotary.

He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He loved golf and fishing. He will be greatly missed.
